Mutual funds / Unit Trusts are collective investments where different people pool their funds together and entrust a fund manager to invest on their behalf. In Kenya there are many fund managers also referred to Asset Managers, British American Asset Manager is one of them. The funds are well regulated by the CMA, KRA, and RBA therefore your investment is very safe.
In Britam, we have the following funds
- Money Market:- This is a low risk fund in that your capital is guaranteed, it can only grow, the rates are published in the newspaper every working day. Unlike a fixed deposit for the money market you can access your money without loosing the interest. The interest is also compounded. Its advisable for short term investment objective, you can also use it as a call account.
- Bond plus Fund:- This is also a low risk fund, advisable for 1-2 yrs investment objective but you can still access your money any time you need it without penalty.
- Equity Funds:- This is a high risk, high return investment this is because a large portion of the fund is invested in carefully selected stocks in the NSE. It is suitable for those who would like to invest in stocks but do not have time to trade mainly because you are engaged in your job or business.
- Balanced Fund:- This gives you a balanced portfolio because its a mixed grill of all the others.
Mutual funds are suitable for chamas, NGO’s, SMEs, individuals, Churches etc.
